The fiber arts club I belong to, Peninsula Fiber Artists has a challenge. We put one or a few of our Unfinished Objects (UFO) into a paper grocery bag and mixed the bags around. We then grabbed a random bag and took it home, not knowing what we were getting. The goal is to make new art from another fiber artist's art. All the completed pieces will be going on display in Port Townsend at the walk by Fiber Habit Window on the corner of Tyler and Lawrence St. in May.
I am calling this piece, "Life on the Peninsula". We are having a meeting next week and I will have the opportunity to confirm whose UFO I received. I am including a picture of what was in the bag, below. I used one of my own UFOs as the background. The circles are hand dyed cotton and the back ground is painted silk charmeuse and I had used Saxa salt to create texture. I free-motion machine quilted the whole piece. I just need to put it in a floating frame this weekend and it will be complete. I cannot wait to see what all the other participants created!
